Cancer & Massage

Approximately 1 in 4 Australians will experience cancer during their lifetime. Massage is becoming an accepted adjunct to mainstream cancer treatment. It can safely be given to people at every stage of their cancer treatment helping to partly mitigate the side effects they experience and enhance their quality of life.

The experience of cancer treatment is daunting – physically, mentally and emotionally. Now there is evidence that massage, specifically adapted to the stage of treatment and symptoms of each cancer can reduce pain, anxiety, fatigue, nausea and often, depression. Obviously type of massage employed is different to that used on someone who has just run the City to Surf or in a beauty spa.

Both Howard and Thanya completed specific training in oncology massage at the Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga. Combined with their Lymphatic Drainage skills they can often help cancer patients cope better with their disease and treatment. You can phone them on (02) 9971 3112 for a confidential discussion about your treatment. Health fund rebates are usually available.
